Shockwave Therapy

What and how?

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a highly effective, non-invasive treatment suitable for chronic conditions where other options may have failed. It is useful for the treatment of osteoarthritis, tendinopathies, ligament, muscle and joint issues. It works by sending bursts of compressed airwaves via a handheld device that penetrates into the effected area. This causes stimulation of cells inside the tissues, which helps to break up adhesions, reduce tension, improve circulation, modulate pain and promote the body’s healing response.

Benefits:

  • Relief of persistent pain

  • Short treatment durations

  • Non-invasive and no medication

  • Recommended by NICE guidelines

  • Achilles and heel pain

  • Muscular pain & trigger points

Shockwave Therapy usually brings pain relief after just a few sessions. We recommend a minimum of 3-6 sessions depending on the condition and individual circumstances, which will be explained in the consultation. It is a highly researched method of treatment and often used within elite sport.
